Overview
Dr. Baidya has an overall 10+
years of experience in the bioventure business development. He
founded BioZak, Inc. in 1999 and served as one of the
founding management for the past five years. He has built a strong
network with the industry leaders. At BioZak he designed, developed
and executed R&D, Pre-Clinical and product development strategies.
He is also provided the strategic vision for the business
development and funding. He directly worked with primer legal firm
for Private placements and maintained strong relationship with the.
Prior to BioZak he worked at Genprobe, Hyseq, Inc. and
GeneAsia.
Strategic Consulting
Currently Dr. Baidya serving as
a strategic consultant several domestic and international companies
(mainly from Japan) in the biotech and devices sector. He is also a
Business Strategic Counselor (BSC) for the Small Business
Administration (Small Business Development Center, San Jose). He
advices IT-software, Biotech and related companies in business
development, marketing as well as start-up issues. He serves as
advisor to several technology-based companies, e.g., Endext, Tokyo,
Japan, Golden-Embryo, Pune/India; and CEMAC corp.,
Durgapur/India.
Drug -development
Processes
He has thorough understanding
of the drug development processes from lab-to-market. He has clear
knowledge of the FDA regulatory processes (IND-P1-P3, NDA and post
market surveillance). He also developed a clear understanding of
generic drug business including the regulatory protocols. He
recently gave a six-week long course at UC Berkeley extension on the
same subject.
Technology Licensing
He initiated, negotiated and
closed in-licensing deals for antiviral platform technologies from
universities. During his tenure at BioZak he also initiated,
negotiated and closed out-licensing deals. He built relationship
with most of the pharmaceuticals leaders in USA and Japan with in a
very short period.
Marketing & Media
Management
He gave numerous lectures on
science and business topics at national and international
conferences, primarily in USA, UK and Japan; and appeared on TV
interviews. Various media in USA and Japan have written about Dr.
Baidya and his projects. He published over 20 articles in
peer-reviewed Journals and has seven patents.
He is also a freelance writer
and has written numerous articles on various subjects in Japan and
in USA. He held a yearlong column (Biopreneur) in a
bi-monthly Magazine called Bioventure in Tokyo, Japan, where
he wrote for the entrepreneurs in Japan. His articles also been
published in Silicon Valley Business Journals, California;
Advanced Biotech, India, and Journal of Experimental Medicine
(Tokyo).
He served as a Thought
Leader, Frost & Sullivan, Executive Summit, San Diego, Dec. 2003. He
has been presenting at various life-sciences investment seminars and
workshops in USA and Japan since 2000. As a member of the
University of California, Berkeley-Extension Business-Management
program, he is advising the program director for strategic expansion
of the program to the greater bay area with a specific target market
segments.
